Descripción: The purity of the salt crystals obtained at Añana Salt Valley is due to the traditional production process and to the origin of the raw material. The brine that flows from the springs originates in a natural manner when fresh water systems flow through the veins of solid salt deposited in this area over 200 million years ago.
The salt crystals are produced in the traditional manner in the pans. The sun and the wind make the salt flowers gradually increase in size and combine. When their weight increases, they fall to the bottom and are collected by hand by the salt workers.
The goodness of Añana salt crystals has been acknowledged worldwide since 1851. In that year, the salt makers present this product at the Universal Exhibition in London, where it was awarded an honourable mention and a bronze medal. This type of salt, apart from being produced in a cultural landscape with over 1200 years of recorded history, is good for our health because it offers a natural balance of minerals and is rich in trace elements. In addition, its high capability to enhance the flavour of food means that smaller amounts are needed to achieve the desired result.
